REIKI HAS BEEN LONG INTEGRATED IN HOSPITALS AND MAJOR INSTITUTIONS NATIONWIDE INCLUDING PROGRESSIVE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES AS A MAINSTREAM COMPLIMENTARY ENERGY MEDICINE TO IMPROVE PATIENT WELLBEING. REIKI IS GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED BY THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION AS A COMPLIMENTARY HEALTH PRACTICE TO MEDICINE. REIKI IS SO WIDELY RECOGNIZED AND CLINICALLY ACCEPTED, AS PATIENTS GREATLY UNDERSTAND REIKI’S THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS AND ARE WILLING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO ACCESS REIKI THERAPY IN HOSPITALS WORLDWIDE.
The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA) published a blinded, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical study in 2025 that aimed to evaluate the impact of remote Reiki on the quality of life, health, and wellbeing of adult dogs. The Journal of American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (JAHVMA) research study demonstrated remote Reiki has beneficial effects, particularly for significant pain reduction in dogs compared to the controlled group: 100% of dogs receiving remote Reiki showed significant improvement in their pain levels; 70% of dogs experienced excellent or moderate pain reduction in clinical settings of acute and chronic pain.
Harvard University and Yale University research studies support Reiki is considered a highly valuable, non-invasive complementary therapy that can be safely used alongside traditional medicine and veterinary medicine treatments: Harvard University study published in 2019 determined the effects of a single Reiki session confirmed statistically significant positive clinical improvements in various measures of health including pain, anxiety, depression, fatigue, nausea and overall wellbeing; Yale School of Medicine study determined those who receive Reiki had a higher heart rate variability with an improved state of relaxation and improved emotional state which clinically optimizes healing. A recent oncology study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic on cancer patients receiving Reiki while undergoing chemotherapy found significant improvements in healing, pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, with enhanced relaxation and transformative resilience in wellbeing.
Hospitals worldwide have embedded Reiki into their standard of care protocols after observing post-operative surgical patients who received Reiki with faster recovery times, significantly reduced post-operative pain by 45% requiring zero to minimal pain medication, sooner than anticipated discharge, and lower rate of postoperative complications.
REIKI IS GLOBALLY INTEGRATED INTO STANDARD OF CARE HOSPITAL PATIENT PROTOCOLS TO IMPROVE WELLBEING.
A 2025 study by the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) supports 70% of US Best Hospitals – over 800 hospitals including major institutions – found Reiki highly beneficial and have integrated formal and informal Reiki protocols into their patient care programs as a complementary therapy to improve patient well-being: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, Duke University Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, The Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, George Washington University, Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospital Boston, Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (among many others).
